Shen yi (
) is a Chinese garment where both the lower (
) and upper (
) part is sewn together and there is no slits between the lower side.
It’s very popular during the Han, but less so during the Tang where only Confucius and Daoist followers wears them.
Due to Chinese influences, Korea, Japan and Vietnam also has this garment, though like Chinese, it’s more associated with Confucian scholar instead of being an everyday cloth.
